Tis‘ the Season, for Learning Calligraphy!

For those of you who know me personally (either in real life or via the internet), you’ll know that teaching a calligraphy workshop has been a long time goal of mine. I get absurdly excited helping aspiring calligraphers learn their way around the alphabet and I just live for sharing every little tip and trick I know to make lettering easier with anybody who will listen (and sometimes those who don’t want to hear anymore).

That said, I was beyond thrilled when I got a call from The Wilburt Group asking me to teach a calligraphy workshop as part of their upcoming Merry Maker’s Pop-Up event at Atlantic Station. The pop-up promised a chic ski lounge complete with cozy décor, tasty snacks and swanky holiday cocktails, such as boozy hot chocolate. Swanky holiday cocktails? Insta-worthy photo walls? Um, yes. They had me at boozy hot chocolate.

My response was an extremely enthusiastic “ABSOLUTELY,” and just like that, my first workshop was booked.

Workshop Day

Now, I’m not trying to be dramatic when I say hosting this workshop was easily one of the Top Ten greatest 1.5 hours of all time. I had even more fun than I expected helping newbie letterers go from clueless about where to begin with calligraphy to feeling confident wielding a brush pen and actually using it to make letters.

I created a beginner’s calligraphy workbook so each student could follow along as I covered brush pen basics, foundational strokes, the lowercase alphabet, and more.

Side Note: After a few very disappointed online friends slid into my DMs with complaints that they wouldn’t be able to attend my workshop since they’re not an Atlanta Local, I decided to bring the workshop to you! I’m currently working on expanding the contents of to include more informational sections and will soon be releasing it for sale in my Etsy shop!

The Wilburt Group was kind enough to share with me a few shots they took from the big day, which you can check out for yourself below.

Overall, I had an amazing time teaching my workshop and I can’t wait to get started planning even more for 2019!
